Project Manager - Functional/Technical

We are looking for Functional/Technical Project Manager for a 6-8+ month contract opportunity with the potential to convert to direct hire (this is not required nor is it guaranteed).  The individual should be either a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder; someone with financial services and/or payment/claims processing is highly desired.  The main requirements are for a business savvy functional PM, however, technical software development project management experience in addition to the functional experience is highly desired.
 
The individual hired must be willing to reside in the greater Madison Wisconsin area during the time of the engagement.  Remote work is not an option.
 
In this role you will be intricately involved in the planning and execution of the project activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals of the client are met. You will be working with moderate supervision and will be responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to the project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
 
Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field
  • 5+ years’ of experience in functional project management
  • 5+ years’ of experience managing people or project teams
  • PMI certifications is desirable
  • Experience in financial services and/or payment/claims processing is desired
  • Experience working with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools, such as Gantt Charts, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint or other similar tools

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate across the organization at all levels; both non-technical and technical in nature
  • Aligning, enabling and supporting the business in the achievement of their goals and objectives through planning and execution of the Projects/Programs. This may include, but is not limited to, developing the project Charter, Project Plan, and regular status meetings
  • Creating strong partnerships and cooperation with various personnel across the organization
  • Leading project team with accountability for project / program execution and implementation including: management of decision processes, monitoring and reporting
  • Applying industry best practices and appropriate frameworks for projects/ programs and implementations
  • Fostering healthy team dynamics through effective team interactions in support of positive project outcomes
  • Articulating risks/issues that may adversely affect project budget and/or timelines and facilitating collaborative discussions to reach consensus on project issues/risks and corresponding mitigation strategies
  • Prioritizing competing needs with good reasoning and creative solutions
  • Soliciting feedback proactively and maintaining a continuous improvement mindset
  • Acute ability to build and leverage internal and external partnerships; effective influence collaborating skills needed for a cross functional, Team-oriented environment.
